Who Needs Test and Tag in Australia?

In Australia, Test and Tag is a key requirement under workplace safety regulations, specifically AS/NZS 3760. It applies to any business or individual who uses electrical equipment in a workplace environment.

Responsible for ensuring that all portable electrical appliances in the workplace are safe. This applies to all commercial, industrial, and public workplaces.

High-risk environments must test and tag every 3 months. This includes tools, extension leads, RCDs, and power boards.

Office equipment and appliances in low-risk environments generally need testing every 5 years. New items must be tested before first use if not already tagged.

Due to high public exposure, these environments should test and tag all electrical appliances regularly to ensure safety for children, staff, and residents.
